This fall is like Christmas for those who love the online multiplayer shooters.  There’s 4 major AAA releases all within one month. What’s a gamer to do with their time and money?  For me, I’ve got them all preordered!

The only question is, which of these games will have the appeal and staying power to continue playing longer than 2 weeks? I can guarantee that there will be one that will be a quick “finish the single player, dabble in the multiplayer, sell/trade-in”.   Not sure which of the four will fall under that category but I’m looking forward to trying them all out. Let us know in the comments which online multiplayer shooters are your most anticipated and get you the most excited for?

Game Release Date Developer System Our Take
Gears of War 4
October 11, 2016 Microsoft Xbox One If you own an Xbox One, this is a must buy.
Battlefield 1
October 21, 2016 EA DICE PC, PS4, Xbox One The Battlefield One carries the tradition of large scale battles with vehicular combat like tanks, planes and even horses.
Titanfall 2
October 28, 2016 Respawn Entertainment PC, PS4, Xbox One If you liked Titanfall 1, then Titanfall 2 should be more of the same. This time around, it includes a single player game too.
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare

November 4, 2016 Infinity Ward PC, PS4, Xbox One The “king” of first person shooters is back with it’s annual release. I am cautiously optimistic about Infinite Warfare. Note that the Legacy Edition also includes a remastered Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.

Now let’s look at them one by one:

Gears of War 4

If you own an Xbox One, this is a must buy. The Gears of War series is fantastic and this instalment is the first fully developed on the Xbox One. It should provide both a fun single player and challenging multiplayer. Single player also includes co-op play so you can play with a buddy which makes it a lot more fun.

Battlefield 1

The Battlefield 1 carries the tradition of large scale battles with vehicular combat like tanks, planes and even horses. Each match generally takes longer than 10 minutes it’s not a game I’d recommend if you don’t have that much time to dedicate online for. Unlike just about every other shooter lately that is set in the future, it’s going into the past with a World War 1 type setting. It’s not exactly historically accurate but still should give you the intensity and grit of trench like warfare. Or at least that’s what they promise. Oh yeah there’s a single player game in there too but let’s be honest, who plays Battlefield single player?

Titanfall 2

Titanfall 1 on the Xbox was not just a Call of Duty clone. It took the FPS shooter genre into the air with parkour type movements that changed the speed of the game. Everything is turned to 11. And then there’s the mechs. This time around Titanfall 2 is available on ALL systems. If you liked Titanfall 1, then Titanfall 2 should be more of the same. This time around, it includes a single player game too.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare

The “king” of first person shooters is back with it’s annual release. This time it’s Infinity Ward’s turn who last gave us Call of Duty: Ghosts which I thought sucked. Hopefully they can return to their former glory with Infinite Warfare. I am still playing Call of Duty Black Ops 3 which I consider one of the best in the franchise so it’ll be tough to top that. I am cautiously optimistic about Infinite Warfare. Note that the Legacy Edition also includes a remastered Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare which is “boots on the ground” style that we all know and love.

Conclusion

Too many good games to choose from. Get ready for your time and wallet to take a hit with all these great online multiplayer shooters coming this fall. At the end of the day, you probably can’t go wrong with any of these four games. It might just come down to what all  your friends latch on to so that you can party up and play as a team because it’s 1000% better being in a squad then playing solo.
